Lenten Prayer Guide for the week of February 21, 2021

Almighty God, whose Son fasted forty days in the wilderness, and was tempted as we are but did not sin, give us grace to discipline ourselves in submission to your Spirit, that as you know our weakness, so we may know your power to save; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. AMEN.

With confidence and trust let us pray to the Lord, saying, “Lord, have mercy.”

For the one holy catholic and apostolic Church throughout the world, Justin, the Archbishop of Canterbury;  The Church of the Province of Central Africa, Albert their Primate, Leopold, Bishop of the Windward Islands; St. Phillip, Mesopotamia with St. Matthias and St. Joseph, on St. Vincent
Ashton their priest; Linda, our Primate; Mark, our Indigenous Archbishop; and, all ordained ministers, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For the mission of the Church, that in faithful witness it may preach the gospel to the ends of the earth, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For Greg, our Archbishop; St. George, Stettler, David their priest with Jack assisting; and, all who minister in the diocese that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For the people of this Parish and those you have called to serve here; Norbert and Haydn our priests; Andy, Bernard, Dave and Sean, who serve as the Corporation; and, all other ministers. Increase in us your gifts of grace and make us all fruitful in good works, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For those participating in bible studies or preparing for baptism and for their teachers and sponsors, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For peace in the world, that a spirit of respect and reconciliation may grow among nations and peoples,

we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For Justin, our Prime Minister; Theresa our Chief Public Health Officer; Jason, our Premier; Deanna, our Chief Medical Officer; and, all government and health authorities, that they take appropriate steps for the good of the people, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For those working with the Coronavirus currently ravaging our world. Hear graciously the prayers we make for those affected by the virus globally. Grant healing to the sick, eternal life to the dead, and consolation to bereaved families. We pray for effective medicine to combat this sickness, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For the poor, the persecuted, the sick, and all who suffer; for refugees, prisoners, and all in danger; that they may be relieved and protected, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For all whom we have injured or offended, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

For grace to amend our lives and to further the reign of God, we pray to you, Lord.

Lord, have mercy.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. AMEN.
