Prayer for the Week of May 16, 2021

In joyful and hope we pray to the source of all life, saying, “Hear us, Lord of glory!”

Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ ascended to the throne of heaven that he might rule over all things as Lord. Keep the Church in the unity of the Spirit and in the bond of his peace, and bring the whole of creation to worship at his feet, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

That our risen Saviour may fill us with the joy of his holy and life-giving resurrection, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

That the scattered, virtual, isolated, and persecuted church may find fresh strength in the Easter gospel, let us pray to the Lord.

Hear us, Lord of glory!

We pray those who serve in your Church globally, particularly: Justin, the Archbishop of Canterbury; The Anglican Church of Korea and Onesimus, Bishop of Busan, and Presiding Bishop; Linda, our Primate; and, Mark, our Indigenous Archbishop, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

We pray for our Companion Diocese of the Windward Islands and Leopold their Bishop, The people and parishes displced by the volcano, St. Paul, Calliaqua (kal-ee-a-kwa) with St. John, Belair with Ashton their priest, and Hermione the Mothers’ Union Diocesan President, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

We pray for those who serve in the Diocese of Calgary: Greg, our Archbishop; St. Michael, Canmore Howard, Seth, and Richard their priests and Sean and Elizabeth Short their deacons, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

We pray for the people of the Parish of St. Peter, Okotoks and those you have called to serve here, particularly remembering; Norbert and Haydn our priests; Bernard, Dave, Sean and Wayne who serve as the Corporation, and all Council members, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

We give thanks to you for Connie, Arlene and Rohan whose birthday we celebrate this week. May they ever grow in your faith, hope , and love, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

(We remember with thanksgiving the vows of love and commitment ______________ made to you and to each other in marriage. We pray for your continued blessing on them. May we learn from their joys and sorrows, and discover new riches in our life together in you, let us pray to the Lord.

That Jesus, our risen Saviour, may grant us humility to be subject to one another in Christian love, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

That Jesus, our Provider, may provide for those who lack food, work, or shelter, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

That Jesus, our Reconciler, may bring to an end wars, pandemics, and famine through all the earth, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

That Jesus, our Healer, may reveal the light of his presence to the sick, the weak, and the dying, that they may be comforted and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

That Jesus, our Risen Lord and Saviour, may send the fire of the Holy Spirit upon his people, that we may bear faithful witness to his resurrection, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

Eternal Giver of love and power, your Son Jesus Christ has sent us into all the world to preach the gospel of his kingdom. Confirm us in this mission and help us to live the good news we proclaim, let us pray to the Lord. 

Hear us, Lord of glory!

We praise and thank you, O God our Father, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him you have enlightened us by revealing the light that never fades, for dark death has been destroyed and radiant life is everywhere restored. What was promised is fulfilled: we have been joined to God, through renewed life in the Spirit of the risen Lord. Glory and praise to you, our Father, through Jesus your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Spirit, in the kingdom of light eternal, for ever and ever. Amen.
