Week of August 25th, 2024

Prayers of the People

Let us pray for the peace of the world: particularly remembering Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; La Iglesia Anglicana de Mexico with Enrique, their primate; Linda, our Primate; and Chris, our National Indigenous Archbishop, that they may remain faithful to their calling and rightly proclaim the word of truth.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for Canada, and especially for King Charles, Mary, the Governor General, Justin, the Prime Minister, Danielle our Premier, and all in authority: the Lord help them to serve this people according to his holy will.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for children and young people: the Lord guide their growth and development.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for those working with the sick and suffering. Hear graciously the prayers we make for those affected by sickness and disease globally. Grant healing to the sick, eternal life to the dead, and consolation to bereaved families. We pray for effective medicine and vaccines to combat this sickness,

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all who are condemned to exile, prison, harsh treatment, or hard labour, for the sake of justice and truth: the Lord support them and keep them steadfast.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for the people of the Diocese of the Windward Islands, Leopold their Bishop, for St. Philip, Mesopotamia with St. Matthias and St. Joseph, on St. Vincent with Ashton, their priest, that your people may lead quiet and peaceable lives.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for the people of our diocese: Gregory, our Archbishop; the Parish of The Mission of St. Edmund King & Martyr, Calgary and for Diocesan Children and Youth Ministries, that they may remain faithful to their calling and rightly proclaim the word of truth.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for the people of our Parish, Norbert our Priest; Bernard and Rob our Wardens, John our Treasurer, for members of our parish: Niya, Frieda, and Les, and members of parish Council; O Lord, guard and direct your Church in the way of unity, service, and praise

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us remember the prophets, apostles, martyrs, and all who have borne witness to the gospel: the Lord direct our lives in the same spirit of service and sacrifice.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Living God, receive all we offer you this day. Grant that hearing your word and responding to your Spirit, we may share in your divine life. We praise and thank you, O God our Father, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him you have enlightened us by revealing the light that never fades, for dark death has been destroyed and radiant life is everywhere restored. What was promised is fulfilled: we have been joined to God, through renewed life in the Spirit of the risen Lord. Glory and praise to you, our Father, through Jesus your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Spirit, in the kingdom of light eternal, for ever and ever. Amen.

Almighty God, we are taught by your word that all our doings without love are worth nothing. Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtue; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. AMEN
